Post-Holiday Reflections
Saturday, 27 December 2008So, Christmas is over for another year, and we're sandwiched right in between the dwindling of those festivities and the promise of a new and eventful year. January 3rd marks the fourth year since the commencement of my focus on health. Therefore, I always tend to reflect upon how I can "upgrade" again in the upcoming year.
So, on that note, I think I'll spend the next week or so contemplating some minor modifications to my routine and setting some new and attainable goals. It's funny how now that significant weight loss isn't so much of the focus, that my personal goals kind of all tie together into creating a more balanced life; health, relationships, creativity, etc.
Food-wise, we had a nice holiday. I prepared a healthy vegan feast for us, my mom and a few friends. We had roasted beets, Brussels sprouts, potatoes with rosemary, grilled asparagus, butternut squash, some faux sausages from The Grain Meat company with marinara, hummus, big salads, homemade cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie with homemade vanilla ice cream made from coconut milk. I tried to keep things simple, but I always end up cooking a lot, especially because we had so many fresh veggies in the fridge from our weekly produce delivery, and I wanted to use them up. So, despite the effort, it was quite enjoyable!
So, off to enjoy the remainder of the year in blissful ignorance of my number on the scale, but not anticipating any major shock upon the first weigh-in of the New Year. I'm looking forward to setting some new goals and expanding my fitness horizons in 2009!
